and much of the Middle East is inevitable. The
bible clearly indicates in Ezekiel 38 that Iran,
Turkey and Russia will unite and attack Israel. This
attack will be stopped and the armies of the attackers destroyed in a way that
will leave no doubt in the eyes of the world that Israel is protected by God Himself.
It will be God’s way, in these last days, of declaring to the world that Israel is His
chosen people and that He does not sleep!
In the light of this it is interesting to consider the prophecies in Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49 that discuss the fall of
Damascus. With the recent
atrocities by the Assad regime, including the massacre of civilians and the use
of children as human shields, combined with the growing anger of the West it
appears conflict there is unavoidable.
It is not for us to know until it happens. Nevertheless, we are called to be watchful redeeming the time (Ephesians 5, 16). Whatever the case,
Iran, Syria or some
other unforeseen conflict, we know that the world has never before been in a
state where all of the regions and countries were positioned to exactly fulfill
prophecy. Since 1948 when Israel
once again became the Jewish homeland the world has been poised for the onset
of the Tribulation. Now, with air travel, satellites, global communications,
nuclear weapons, RFID, and the political and military alignment of the
countries of the world, all the pieces are in place.
More than ever we must be on guard, going about God’s business for indeed the time is short. Soon, the Rapture and then the world will know what we know already. That indeed, God does not sleep!
