Abandoning Israel

The Bible foretells that in the end, Israel will be without friends, surrounded on all sides by enemies and completely abandoned by her allies. (Zech 12, 3) That prophetic description is becoming today’s reality with each passing moment.

At one time Britain and the US were Israel’s two staunchest allies. That is no longer the case. Britain has stated that it will not assist Israel and the US in a joint strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if Iran succeeds in developing nuclear weapons. The present US administration has taken significant steps back from Israel. If Barack Obama is re-elected it is almost certain that he will completely desert Israel. If Mitt Romney is elected then Israel will likely receive renewed support from the United States but for how long and to what extent?

Romney seems to get it that the so-called Palestinians have no desire for a peaceful co-existence with Israel. However, it is an unfortunate fact that the American people, including a large number of “Evangelical” Christians, are less and less favorable towards Israel and the Israeli people. Now with the descent of the Middle East into chaos and the resurgence of Jihad-based Islam in the area Israel is under threat of attack on all fronts with the possible exception of Jordan – and that may be changing soon if the Muslim Brotherhood has their way. If war erupts in the region will the American people support a full scale involvement?

It is disturbing how successful those opposed to the existence of Israel have been in indoctrinating the American public. With the help of the MSM a growing number of Americans including many calling themselves Evangelical Christians now view the Israelis as usurpers and occupiers and they increasingly support the ‘Palestinian cause’. By ignoring Arab aggression and acts of terror against Israel and instead focusing only on the Israeli response and its consequences, the Media present a one-sided view of the situation. Couple that with the revisionist representation of the history of the region and it is no wonder that Americans are confused about the facts and, consequently, less supportive of Israel than in the past.

Additionally, Europe and the United Nations have been increasingly hostile toward Israel over the past several decades. Recently, the U.N. special investigator on human rights in the Palestinian/Arab territories called for a boycott of all companies that have dealings with Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The UN consistently votes against Israel on critical issues and is continually pressuring Israel to accept a UN proposal that would leave the country virtually defenseless. It seems that Israel’s list of friends and allies is growing thin indeed.

One of the primary reasons for this stems from a successful Soviet designed PR campaign began by Yasser Arafat at the founding of the PLO – a PR campaign designed to portray the so-called Palestinians as a displaced peoples, driven from their homeland by the Israeli’s. They claim that the Israelis are usurpers with no real history in the region and no legal or moral claim to the land. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

From antiquity the Jewish people have continuously occupied the Jordan Valley area presently referred to as Palestine. Contrary to statements made by those critical of Israel, the Jewish people never entirely abandoned the region. While a large number of their population was displaced during the Roman “Disapora” a significant number of Jews remained, primarily in Jerusalem and Tiberias however there were also a number of smaller settlements located up and down the Jordan valley. In fact, the area has not always been in dispute. For some time even among the Arab Nations there was agreement that ‘Palestine’ was the legitimate home of the Jewish nation, Israel. The Arabs certainly had little use for the area as, for the most part, it was barren and sparsely populated. The roads and bridges were not maintained being mere tracks for camels and goats and its minimal agriculture was of little value. While some local tribal leaders protested the idea of a re-established Jewish homeland, many of the Arabs in the area welcomed the money and development that would accompany the Zionists and they looked forward to improvements in the infrastructure and the addition of new jobs and opportunities.

In the 1930’s until 1947 there were ongoing disputes and conflict regarding the creation of a Jewish nation. While the Jewish people were willing to compromise and accept almost anything, the Arabs were adamantly opposed to establishing any kind of Jewish homeland. Since the Jews had begun joining their brethren in the region in large numbers the once barren and largely unpopulated wasteland was becoming fertile and productive. God was blessing his chosen people. Soon, Arabs began moving into the area in larger numbers as well to take advantage of the new found prosperity in the land.

It wasn’t until 1967 and the rise of the PLO that the region’s Arab population adopted the title of ‘Palestinians’ and began aggressively contesting Israel’s claim to the region. The reason for the sudden change was, in part, a response to the expansion of Israel’s borders as they annexed territories once belonging to neighboring Jordan, Egypt and Syria. The taking of these territories was a direct result of attacks on Israel by these nations. Emerging victorious in each conflict, Israel annexed the disputed territories in large part to provide defensive buffers in the event of further aggression. The territories in question, primarily Gaza, the West Bank and the Golan Heights all historically belonged to Israel.

As noted, The PR campaign began with Yasser Arafat, the PLO and the adoption of the term Palestinian. The term Palestine itself was given to Judaea by the Romans (Palaestina) in the second century CE in order to demoralize the Jewish resistance and reduce their identification with the region. It had nothing to do with identifying a specific population or group. It wasn’t until after the 1967 six day war that the issue of ‘the Palestinians’ became a significant political movement. What is largely unspoken is that during Israel’s bid for nationhood, the countries involved, including Syria, Egypt and Jordan made no recognition of the ‘Palestinian’ people. They simply did not exist. Rather, the region called Palestine was peopled with Arabs of several other nationalities, roaming Bedouins, a smattering of Christians and others and, of course, the Jewish population.

As for the Jewish people and their history in the region – that is supported by Biblical history, secular history and thousands of archaeological discoveries. Historically, the Jews have occupied the land as a Nation since 1321 BCE, two thousand years before the appearance of Islam. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BCE, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 CE lasted no more than 22 years. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit. All of this is historically verifiable.

In the light of this one wonders why the American people are so quick to sympathize with the so-called Palestinians particularly considering the frequent terrorist attacks, the murders and the constant barrage of rockets, mortars and bombs that Israel endures daily. While the Israelis have exercised incredible restraint when retaliating against these attacks the MSM is quick to broadcast any and all collateral damage while rarely showing the aftermath of the Arab attacks against Israel. That is one of the reasons public sympathy is trending toward the ‘Palestinians.’

Despite the ongoing PR campaign, one would think that the Evangelical Christian community would be one ally that would never depart from the side of Israel. Unfortunately now a number of groups calling themselves Evangelicals have recently become aligned with the Arab cause citing perceived abuse of Palestinians by Israelis and, quite interestingly, Biblical doctrine very similar to Replacement Theology. Replacement theology is a common heresy among groups such as the Nazi’s, the White Supremacists and some of the ultra-liberal Churches. Apparently it is finding its way into the Evangelical community as well, likely via the liberal Emergent movement. A number of churches have been extremely critical of Israel and have petitioned Congress to cease funding for Israel. They do not petition to cease the funding of violent Islamic groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood however.

This is a perfect example of how a movement based on false doctrine and playing to the emotions of Christians who are poorly educated regarding scripture and fail to discern when they are being manipulated can mislead even the well-meaning. The PR campaign began by Arafat is still in full swing. They have crafted a clever narrative that portrays the ‘Palestinians’ as an oppressed people, disenfranchised and prisoners in their own homeland. They use emotion inducing videos of women and children being aggressively searched at Israeli check points and images of Israeli military vehicles seemingly charging through residential neighborhoods while children and the elderly scramble for safety. In US churches, ‘Palestinians’ give personal testimonies of Israeli aggression. All of these are carefully crafted to produce the maximum emotional response and discourage anyone from questioning their motivation.

The part of the narrative that are not shown are the acts of terrorism that necessitate such thorough and indiscriminate searches or the mangled bodies of Jewish school children who were killed when a rocket landed in the school yard where they were playing requiring a door to door military search for those responsible. They do not show the horrific pictures of Jewish families butchered in their homes by Muslim anti-Zionists or the burned bodies of the elderly men and women killed when the bus they were riding in was fire bombed by Arab Extremists. They don’t count the thousands of atrocities that are perpetrated against innocent Jewish men, women, children and the elderly.

One would think that common sense might cause those tempted to side with the ‘Palestinians’ to re-think their decision. After all, the the same people calling for the destruction of Israel are also calling for the destruction of the US. Besides, would any other country in the region put up with the same level of terrorism and violence that Israel has without thoroughly annihilating their enemy? Yet Christian leaders in this country criticize Israel while ignoring atrocities committed against our only true ally in the Middle East.

The Muslim Brotherhood has set its sights on Jordan. Middle East experts say it is just a matter of time before Jordan experiences the same level of unrest as the other Arab Spring countries. For now the US is supporting Jordan and its regime. If President Obama is re-elected will that continue? No matter who is President, if Jordan’s King Abdullah is ousted during a popular revolution would we intervene? If Jordan joins the other Arab Spring countries then Israel will truly be surrounded by enemies.

The Christian Church was at one time a true friend that Israel could always rely on. Now, it appears that is not so much the case. What a sad commentary on the times, when everyone it seems is abandoning Israel. The Bible foretold just such a time. It’s just a little sad to watch it happen.

One last note: With Russia growing stronger and more militant every day and a weak President at the helm of our country it is not inconceivable that the Arab countries could attack Israel and we would not raise a hand to help her. Russia would simply have to tell us to ‘sit this one out’ and I do believe Obama would (EZ 38 & 39). What about Romney? Would he risk a confrontation with Russia to help Israel?

One of the reasons God has so blessed the United States over the years is because of our unwavering support for Israel. With that support waning do we think that God will continue His goodwill toward us? I believe that we are already experiencing God's judgment for turning our collective backs on Him. How much more will He judge us if we turn our backs on Israel?

Gen 12:3  And I will bless those that bless you and curse the one who curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

What is the TRUTH behind the Benghazi Attack?

What happened in Libya? The evidence is clear that our Government, at the highest levels, knew of the mounting threat to our embassy in Benghazi. Every day, we learn more of just how obtuse the Administration was regarding the perilousness of the situation in Benghazi – or were they?

Why exactly, was our security so insufficient? Testimony before the Congressional Committee about the matter indicates that not only was security reduced immediately prior to the incident, but numerous requests and recommendations for increased security were denied. When you begin to look at just how substantial the reduction in security for the Embassy was you have to wonder what they were thinking. Remember, there had been a number of violent incidents prior to Sept 11 and the security force that existed prior to the incident included a 16 member Special Forces Unit. That unit was withdrawn one month before the attack. What was left was a small privately contracted security force and some Libyan militia forces.

After reducing security forces to absurd levels, the Administration then denied desperate calls for increased security.

The Committee heard testimony from Eric Nordstrom, who was the Regional Security Officer in charge of security on the ground at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, and Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, who led a 16-member special forces team that was pulled from Libya a month before the attack. Both testified to having been acutely aware of serious threats to the Embassy, and to having repeatedly requested increased security personnel from the State Department. Those requests were denied.

This is in the face of the fact that the Administration knew of the growing threat months ahead of time and, in fact, they were warned three days prior to the tragedy that an attack was imminent.

Three days before the deadly assault on the United States consulate in Libya, a local security official says he met with American diplomats in the city and warned them about deteriorating security.
Jamal Mabrouk, a member of the February 17th Brigade, told CNN that he and a battalion commander had a meeting about the economy and security.
He said they told the diplomats that the security situation wasn’t good for international business.
“The situation is frightening, it scares us,” Mabrouk said they told the U.S. officials. He did not say how they responded.- CNN

It has also come to light that the Administration has lied and worked very hard to cover up these facts. In the first hours of the attack and for the following week the Administration tried to portray the attack as a protest of the now infamous trailer for a low budget Islam bashing trash film. We now know that Obama and his Administration knew that this was not the case.

U.S. intelligence officials knew within 24 hours of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that it was a terrorist attack and suspected Al Qaeda-tied elements were involved, sources told Fox News -- though it took the administration a week to acknowledge it.
The account sharply conflicts with claims on the Sunday after the attack by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice that the administration believed the strike was a "spontaneous" event triggered by protests in Egypt over an anti-Islam film.
Intelligence sources said that the Obama administration internally labeled the attack terrorism from the first day in order to unlock and mobilize certain resources to respond, and that officials were looking for one specific suspect. The sources said the intelligence community knew by Sept. 12 that the militant Ansar al-Shariah and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb were likely behind the strike.- FOX

And of course the cover up continues to this day as the Obama Administration and their propaganda machine MSM attempt to spin the story over and over hoping to confuse the public as to what is fact and what is fiction.

The power of the Internet and Alternative Media is definitely having an effect however as the American People are beginning to demand answers to the questions of just what did the Administration know and when did they know it. More importantly they are asking WHY?

In the face of all this, that is my question as well. Why on earth would this be allowed to happen. Incompetence? Ignorance? Plain stupidity? Or, is there something more behind all of this. To me, this smacks of intent. I simply cannot believe that even bumblers like Secretary Clinton and B. Obama could fail so epically. I sense an agenda behind the denial of increased security in the face of so much intelligence indicating an imminent threat.

With that in mind, I ask myself just what does Obama and the Administration have to gain by all this? This is a question that, to date, I do not have an answer to.

I do believe that the Administration desired, even helped orchestrate this incident. I don’t think that incompetence is entirely to blame here. No, I think that there is definitely an agenda behind this tragic chain of events. Is it possible that this was intended to be something else but was ultimately bungled and allowed to get out of hand? Perhaps.

Whatever the case, it will be some time – if ever, before any answers come to light. If not for a Republican controlled House it is certain there would never have been hearings on the subject. The FBI investigation which lasted all of forty eight hours and didn’t happen until three weeks after the incident has turned up nothing. That is no surprise. While the Administration and the MSM continue trying to spin the story in some way that will stick, there are four dead Americans and a half gutted Embassy that serve as a testament to the policies of this President and his Administration.

There are so many unanswered questions.

Which leaves us to wonder: Just what is the TRUTH behind what happened in Libya?
